EQUIPMENT

Photography has been one of my interests since my Uncle Chris got me interested about the age of 14. My first ever Camera, was my parents' Kodak Brownie 127. I soon moved on to a Kowa SE and after that, used various West German, SLRs. I've used mostly Nikon Camera equipment ever since I became more serious about the medium. I strayed for a while, and used the Contax G system, after reading reports in Magazines, and on the Internet about how good it was. I was quite disappointed unfortunately and soon traded it in for a Rolleiflex SLX 6x6cm SLR.

There was a lull in my interest during the early 1980's, when I became involved in the local music scene. I did some lead vocals, and played Bass-Guitar or Drums with Bands in the "Pub and University" circuit. I also did some session work at the time for a local Recording Studio, and a few Jingles for a Commercial Radio Station in the area.

During the early 1980's, I worked as a Technician in Laboratories mainly in the Ceramics and Jewelry industries. After that I trained for three years as a Psychiatric Nurse, which I did for 28 years until taking early retirement in 2009.

All the Black and White images are on Ilford Delta 400 and were scanned from 35mm negative with an Acer Scanwit 2720s Film Scanner. The colour images were captured with a Nikon D50 or D700 S.L.R.

I enjoy doing portraits and commercial work, and will also occasionally photograph Weddings for friends and family: but my main interest is travel photography. You can see more places if you visit Dave-Thursfield.com

My Father was Maltese, so I like to visit Malta a few times a year, or as often as I can, and always enjoy spending time with my Cousin Jesmond and his family.

The photo's on this Site are the result of many days exploring in the hot Sun, (mostly on foot) and more days spent scanning, editing and website building. If you've enjoyed looking at them, it was all worthwhile.
